This Thursday at 2:30, at the municipal presidency, a gathering was called to demand justice for the case of Rosita and other women recently murdered. The call included wearing black, bringing flowers, candles, and signs in memory of the victims. Mayra Dávila, activist and founder of the Adax Digitales association, highlighted the seriousness of the situation and the need for urgent actions to prevent and eliminate gender violence.
In the context of 8M, an approach was attempted with the municipal presidency to address the issue of gender violence from a multidisciplinary perspective and in collaboration; however, the meeting did not take place. Dávila mentioned that three feminicides have already been recorded in the municipality, which is alarming, and expressed her concern about the lack of attention from municipal administrations, which could lead to the repetition of tragic events.
The activist called for urgent attention and the design of strategies to combat feminist violence, as well as conducting gender-perspective investigations, acting with speed and institutional responsibility, and ensuring justice for Rosita and her family. She emphasized the importance of intervention by specialists and coordinated work between institutions and civil society to address the situation.
She stressed that feminicide is not an isolated event but the result of years of continued violence and reiterated her support to the families in this difficult time. The municipality of Amealco has been the scene of at least three feminicides so far this year, which has motivated activists to call on the population to join in demanding justice.
